10 Ways to Be Positive


Having a positive state of mind is one of the key ingredients to a happy life. Sure, positivity can lead to high expectations that can lead to disappointment, but constant negativity can have worse consequences such as missed opportunities, dissatisfaction without any attempt to change, and a lack of belief in oneself and life itself. Here’s ten ways of staying positive to get started on the process of positive thinking; I would love to hear how you stay positive, so leave a comment below!

  1. Concentrate on the smaller things in life and the things you take for granted, such as someone holding the door open for you, or a text from your mum or friend. Being able to appreciate the little things not only makes the bigger things even more special, and it allows there to be beauty in every day, even those when you’re lounging in your sweats at home
  2. Surround yourself, and the space you live in, with people you love and people who love you, with images and quotes of people you inspire you, lyrics that inspire you, pictures from good memories or of places you want to go to one day
  3. Listen to your favourite positive music, because it has the power to transport you to a happier place!
  4. Put things in perspective – everybody’s life has its ups and downs, and there are people in the world whose life may be much more challenging – appreciate what you have
  5. Take time to be sad, but move on – and if you’re finding that hard, talk to someone you trust or will be sympathetic, or write it in a diary, which will act as a release for those negative thoughts built up in your mind
  6. Wake up with a positive attitude and thoughts because every day is a new day with potential – if you need to be reminded, you could even write messages on a post-it and stick it somewhere where you will see it every day
  7. Don’t do things you do not loveand if you have to, think about all the positives that will come out of it. For example, many of us complain about school or homework, but think about how much an education will benefit us in the future, and all those people in the world fighting for their right to go to school
  8. Take action to solve the problems that are making you miserable, and one can take a step towards this just by talking to someone
  9. Stick positive quotes or messages, or goals on the wall, in your wallet, where ever you can see them to inspire you to make the most out of life
  10. Don’t think of failure as a negative – there’s a saying that goes “Life is like a camera. Just focus on what’s important. Capture the good times. Develop from the negatives, and if things don’t turn out, just take another shot
