When we set out to accomplish something, we have a vision of becoming the best at a craft: we want to be fit, we want to have a lot of money, we want to impress other people. Therefore, with the vision of being the best, our first step is always the hardest, because we think it needs to be perfect. But we need to accept that we won’t be the best from the beginning. We have to work hard. We have to test things out; some will work and others will fail. We have to slow ourselves down and sometimes we have to pick ourselves up. Those people we idolise, who seemingly have what we want to have, did the same. If we always think that we need to be perfect when we first begin something, we will never take another step or even finish the first step, because we will never be satisfied with our first attempt. The best that we can do for ourselves is to just go for it. We need to have realistic expectations of ourselves at this moment in time. Go head first, do what you can and give it your all. Don’t compare yourself to others, just get started and keep going. Eventually, you will find yourself at your version of excellence and even beyond what you expected.
