Life isn’t so bad

Our life isn’t always as bad as it seems inside our heads. Our opinions and emotions are nurtured by what we know and what we’ve seen. But if you were to look from the outside, what might you see? Would it be a bad life like the one we’ve conjured up in our heads? Or would it be a life to be grateful for? There are others looking in who envy your life, who are wishing for a life like yours, who are perhaps even fighting for it. Take a step back and let’s quit making it out to be so bad. Because it really isn’t. It could be worse. And there’s a lot going for you, for many of us.

A good day

Not every day will be a ‘good’ day. But there’s still something good in every day, no matter how small: an accomplishment, a smile, a hug, a chat, a cup of coffee, a book, a bath, a walk, a song. If today isn’t turning out to be a good day, there’s still time to turn it around. Bad days don’t equal a bad life. They just make us appreciate the good even more.

Finding good in the bad

Sometimes all we can do is make the best out of a bad situation. We cannot control what other people say or do, and that can negatively affect us. We cannot always predict where we’ll spend most of our time, and that can negatively infect us. As much as we want to let the bad situation take over, we have to try to find the piece of light in the darkness. There’s always something to be discovered, something to be learned, something to be enjoyed. We just have to teach ourselves to see it. Even if it’s a simple as realising you need a change.

Being positive

Being positive doesn’t mean staying positive. We all have negative moments, moments when we doubt ourselves, when we make mistakes, when someone lets us down, and so on. Being positive is how you bounce back from those moments. It’s about not letting those moments slip into weeks and months and years. It’s about talking to yourself, putting faith in yourself, and loving yourself despite those moments. Life is more than those moments. Once you figure that out, positivity will flow naturally through your veins.

You never know what might happen tomorrow

Butterfly quote

Stars are formed in a cloud of dust. The cloud of gas and dust collapses under it’s own gravitational attraction. And a protostar is born, made up of some of the gas and dust it’s gathered in the process. What does this have to do with you? Well, you never know what might happen tomorrow. If you think your world is ending or you feel your world is unclear, remember you never know what might happen tomorrow. All the trouble and turmoil is building you into a star. A beautiful, bright star. Have faith. And don’t give up too easily. Your world isn’t ending, it’s just beginning.

Thought of the Day: Bad days

Bad day patrick stump quote

We all have off-days. And that’s ok. Sometimes we have a slow start or a dramatic end. Sometimes we keep emitting negative energy and other times we keep absorbing it. Sometimes we’re turned inside out and upside down. Sometimes we’re exhausted and tested, and other times we’re lonely and forgotten. Feel free to wallow a little. But whatever the bad day, we can always brighten it up or turn it around, even if that means waiting for the clock to strike midnight to start afresh. A bad day doesn’t equal a bad life. Sometimes we just need a few to put the good ones into perspective.

Cling to what is good

Sometimes we have to make choices under pressure, under heightened emotions, and under difficult circumstances. Sometimes we want vengeance or justice, because that is what seems fair and right. But there’s still a line between right and wrong, good and bad, that we must navigate carefully – what we might think is right in a moment might be wrong in the long run. Because once actions are made, words are said, there’s no taking them back. They might be forgiven but never forgotten. Cling to what is good. Cling to positivity, happiness, kindness. Cling to solutions that end problems, not create them.
