In life, we end up spending too much time trying to connect the dots plotted out for us. Instead, we should be brave enough to draw outside the predetermined lines. For many of us, progress, happiness and success fall outside those lines. So don’t be afraid to get a little messy, roam with no set destination, or go off on a tangent. Trust your instincts and trust your heart. When we finally learn that there are no lines that bind us, we finally see that happiness, success and progress are not found along them, but beyond them.
When we’re about to jump, a number of emotions are packed into a tiny moment. Some of us shut our eyes. Some of us take a deep breath. Some of us stop breathing all together. Some of us let out a scream. Yet, there isn’t another time we feel more alive. It might be scary to take a leap, but it will be worth it in the end. Let go of the fears, the past, the inhibitions, the stories, the expectations. Be bold. Be daring. Be fierce. Be brave. Because good fortune will follow.
Many of us lack confidence in our own ideas. We’re afraid to raise our hand or put anything on the table, because we’re scared of looking stupid. But the truth is, our world is just a puzzle of ideas. Our systems, functions, processes are all ideas. And the only way they become our reality is when people are brave enough to share them. Sure, some ideas need refining and tuning. But an idea is an idea. They’re all cloaked in impossibility and impracticality. Strip away those fears. If others can do it, so can you. The value of an idea lies in the using of it.
The concept of confidence can be misleading. Many of us confuse confidence with popularity. Many of us confuse confidence with ideal beauty. Many of us confuse confidence with arrogance. Although confidence can be associated with these, it isn’t reserved for the chosen few. It is rooted in humility, acceptance and love for who you are, no matter how quirky and flawed that is. Confidence can be quiet but mighty. Be your most authentic self, because that’s all we should ever be and aspire to be: ourselves.
Be brave. If a part of our life doesn’t make us happy, we should make every effort to change it. Sometimes it means leaving behind the security and comfort of the familiar. Sometimes it means going against what is thought or expected of us. Sometimes it means taking a few steps back in order to propel forward. Be brave enough to admit what doesn’t make you happy and do something about it, even if you start out small. Because what other point is there to life other than to be happy?
