Happiness is different for everyone. There is no set path and there is no set reward. Don’t get sucked into other people’s versions of happiness, when it isn’t yours. Don’t let others bring down your version of happiness, when it isn’t their’s. We all make our own happiness. Do what feels best for you. A world full of happy people is a happy place to be.
Truth is, no matter what we do, say, think, believe, we cannot please everyone. There will always be someone who won’t like it and won’t be afraid to tell you so. We cannot meet everyone’s expectations. So why don’t we just focus on pleasing the one person who will have to live with you: yourself. You have to live with your actions, your choices, your perspective, so why are we trying so hard to please others when we can so easily please ourselves. Do what makes you happy, what makes you grow, what makes you live. Set your own standards, create your own rules and live your own life. It’s your life, not theirs.
The world is your oyster. You have to swim around in the darkness before you stumble upon it. You have to believe in your power to break it open. You have to have faith that you’ll find something inside. But the world is yours – there’s so much possibility, opportunity, potential, choice. Do whatever it takes to create a life you want. Don’t let anything hold you back, especially yourself.
Death is inescapable. But we shouldn’t let it haunt us like the ghost we may become. Because we’re alive right now and that’s what counts. We can live in whichever way we chose, be whoever we want to be and go wherever we take ourselves. Don’t underestimate it. Don’t take it for granted. Don’t forget that you’re alive. Someday we might die, but on all the other days, we will not.
Life is a series of moments, a series of nows, a series of choices, a series of yeses and nos, a series of ups and downs. Stop obsessing about what’s past, gone, done, what could have been, what should have been, what might be or not be. Focus on the moment, the now, the choice you have today. There won’t be another one just like it, and it can make all the difference.
We need to be mindful of who we listen to. Because they affect our opinions, our choices, our lives. Sometimes we don’t even realise what we’re absorbing and sometimes there are so many voices, we don’t know where to start. But above all, listen to your own voice, your own thoughts, your own desires. You’re the one who has to live your life. You need to enjoy it. And sometimes that will mean drowning out the noise of those close to you. Make decisions on your own terms. It might not be easy, but it will be worth it.
No matter how much we’d like to, we cannot control how the world and the people in it work. Sometimes it brings dark clouds to pour above. And even if we’re sat inside, we can hear it beat down against the roof. The only choice we’re really left with is whether we let it shake us, take us, and break us or whether we forbid it from doing so. Sometimes the only thing we can hold onto is the faith that it will be alright in the end. The rain will stop. The crops will grow. Right now, the sun is behind the clouds. But just because we can’t see it now, doesn’t mean it isn’t there.
