Death is inescapable. But we shouldn’t let it haunt us like the ghost we may become. Because we’re alive right now and that’s what counts. We can live in whichever way we chose, be whoever we want to be and go wherever we take ourselves. Don’t underestimate it. Don’t take it for granted. Don’t forget that you’re alive. Someday we might die, but on all the other days, we will not.
We do not know how much time we have to live. We do not know how much of that time will be rewarding and how much will be taxing. But don’t let that stop you. Don’t let that hold you back from what brings you happiness and fulfilment. Don’t give up. Keep dreaming, keep pursuing, keep living. Live against the odds.
I want to be thoroughly used up when I die, for the harder I work, the more I live. Life is no ‘brief candle’ to me. It is a sort of splendid torch which I have got hold of for the moment, and I want to make it burn as brightly as possible before handing it on to future generations. ~ George Bernard Shaw
Quote of the day.
Mortality is our only true weakness. In a flash, we could be gone and so could anyone around us. But mortality is also our greatest asset. Think about how much more we’d give, if we realised how precious our time is and how limited our time is. We’d love deeper. We’d forgive those who wronged us more quickly. We’d say the words left unsaid. We’d swallow our pride. We’d be bolder in our pursuits. The clouds that loom over our mind would dissipate, because the answers would become much clearer. Let’s not wait until tomorrow. Today is your day to write as you please. Only put off until tomorrow that you are willing to die having left undone.
Every day, we’re writing our legacy. Many of us may not see life that way, because it’s easy to take life for granted. We expect life to be long and death to be far away. But death always walks with us and we cannot predict when it will chose us. Often, it is only when we’re faced with death that we begin to re-evaluate and re-prioritise what really matters. But we shouldn’t be waiting for a traumatic event to remind that life is for living. Go out and do what you want to do. Love who you want to love. Be who you want to be. Every day, we’re writing our legacy. And every day, we have the chance to create the best version. Let’s not wait!
Enjoy life. There’s plenty of time to be dead. Hans Christian Andersen
