Life is a journey. Life is a teacher. Life is a blend of experiences and moments. If life was always easy, always perfect, always predictable, it would be boring. And it would be letting us down. Keep learning, keep falling, keep growing. Life cannot be magical without making us thrive, survive, and feel alive.
Life is a work in progress. It won’t always be easy, it won’t always be perfect, and it won’t always be bright. But it’s those complexities, discrepancies and intricacies that make it worth living. We appreciate more when we have less, appreciate ease when we’ve worked hard, and appreciate light when we’ve sat in the dark. We’re still finding our way and changing our minds and making mistakes and trying again. Life’s a work in progress and we are too. We can design and live as we please. That’s the beauty of life.
Great expectations are hard to shake. But sometimes we have to face the fact that we cannot live up to them and we cannot expect the world to either. We will never be a perfect person. We will never erase the past. Nothing worth having will come easily. Life will never go according to plan. We shouldn’t have to live by these expectations. And that’s not to say that we shouldn’t strive to be our best selves and create our ideal world, but don’t make it burdensome and suffocating. Otherwise we end up too much like a lead ballon, stranded on the ground when we should be floating up above.
If life was easy, we’d never grow stronger. If life was easy, we’d never become wiser. If life was easy, we’d never know how strong or wise we already are. If life was easy, we’d never learn who we are, what we’re worth, and what we deserve. If life was easy, we’d take it for granted. If life was easy, we’d never appreciate what we have or what we could have. If life was easy, we’d never have any passion or fire or desire. If life was easy, it’d be pretty miserable. When life is hard, it can be miserable too. But at least we still get the dawns and the stars amidst the darkness. Don’t pray for any easy life. Pray for the strength to endure a difficult one.
