Will it matter in five years?

We waste too much time worrying over little things and crying about trivial things. And we lose out on time we could be spending enjoying life because of it. Something might seem like the end of the world today but we probably won’t even remember it later on. If you find yourself feeling down about something that won’t matter in five years, don’t spend more than five minutes being sad about it. Something better is round the corner.

Do not worry about things that haven’t happened

Do not worry about what might be. Don’t worry about things that haven’t happened yet. There’s no way for us to see what our future will look like. It will have ups and downs, but it will be ok in the end. Worry about what might be will only darken what is right in front of you. Especially because it might not even happen. You can battle your problems when they come. Enjoy the time you have now.

Finding good in the bad

Sometimes all we can do is make the best out of a bad situation. We cannot control what other people say or do, and that can negatively affect us. We cannot always predict where we’ll spend most of our time, and that can negatively infect us. As much as we want to let the bad situation take over, we have to try to find the piece of light in the darkness. There’s always something to be discovered, something to be learned, something to be enjoyed. We just have to teach ourselves to see it. Even if it’s a simple as realising you need a change.

Don’t live half-heartedly

You owe it to yourself, the world, the power that created you, to live. That means doing your best, expressing gratitude, enjoying yourself, letting go of what hurts you, focusing on the moment, spreading the love, challenging your fears, being yourself. It looks different for everyone but it’s guided by the same principles. Don’t live half-heartedly. Live passionately, enthusiastically, sincerely, generously, and to the fullest.

Who we listen to

We need to be mindful of who we listen to. Because they affect our opinions, our choices, our lives. Sometimes we don’t even realise what we’re absorbing and sometimes there are so many voices, we don’t know where to start. But above all, listen to your own voice, your own thoughts, your own desires. You’re the one who has to live your life. You need to enjoy it. And sometimes that will mean drowning out the noise of those close to you. Make decisions on your own terms. It might not be easy, but it will be worth it.

Take it one day at a time

Take it one day at a time. Contrary to what we might think, one day is enough. We can take a step further in the direction we’re headed. Or we might choose to change our destination. We can take a breath, re-evaluate, re-energise. We can take a look around and marvel at the world. We can take a moment to look back and see how far we’ve come. We can take any unnecessary burdens off our shoulders. Or we might pick up new treasures to cherish. Every day is a chance to start, end, try, fail, wonder, accomplish, and enjoy. So much can happen in a day. Don’t underestimate them. And most of all, don’t waste them.
