It always seems impossible until it’s done. We have to have faith that the lightbulb will turn on. Without that, the impossible will remain impossible. Have belief in yourself, confidence in your ideas and courage in your pursuits. It doesn’t matter how crazy people think you are – if you put your mind to it, it can be done. And when the impossible becomes possible, that’s when the magic happens. If Thomas Edison had given up at the first sign of the impossible, we never would have had the lightbulb at all.
Success cannot exist without failure. Happiness cannot exist without hardship. Strength cannot exist without weakness. The key lies with not giving up when times are tougher. If we hold on a little longer, it will be brighter round the corner. The path is nearly exactly the same; the destination depends on what you believe it to be before you reach it.
Take control of the hand you are dealt. Take responsibility for the life at your feet. Take the opportunities right in front of you. Life isn’t perfect, but that doesn’t mean it won’t be good. A door closes so another one can open. If we take control of our lives, take responsibility and take opportunity, our life has a kaleidoscope full of possibilities instead of the inevitability you settle for. Don’t give up on it. Take it. The only one who can change your life is you.
Have courage. It doesn’t take perfection or genius to get further in life. It takes guts. We shouldn’t be afraid of failing but afraid of not trying at all. We shouldn’t be afraid of stepping out of our comfort zone but afraid of trapping ourselves in it. We shouldn’t be afraid of our flaws but afraid of not realising their magic. We need to keep trying, keep going, to get further. We won’t ever be perfect. We won’t all be geniuses. But no matter what you think, we can all be brave. And that’s what will get us the furthest.
There comes a time when we’ll get caught in a downpour. Our first instinct is to take cover from it. But that isn’t always an option. Sometimes we have to weather it. And whatever we do, we’re bound to get soaked. But that’s ok, as long as we try to do our best. Don’t give into the raindrops of adversity. You’re better than that. You’re smart and courageous and innovative. And even if all else fails, you can still dance in the rain and laugh a little. Keep holding on, because the sun will come out once again and it will shine brighter than before.
Never give up on a dream just because of the time it will take to accomplish it. The time will pass anyway. ~ Earl Nightingale
Quote of the day.
It’s scary to admit when things aren’t working. Sometimes it’s because we live in hope they will get better soon. Sometimes it’s because we know there will be a long journey ahead of us. Sometimes it’s because we have no idea what the future will hold. It can be hard to let go of something we know without knowing what we’re giving it up for. But we all deserve to be happy. And that is out there somewhere. Happiness is the one thing we cannot give up on. There is more out there than we can imagine or ever know. If we’ve tried our best to make things work and they still don’t, be brave enough to walk away from them and venture into new things. Sometimes we have to subtract when things aren’t adding up. You owe it to yourself to try.
Sometimes life is a struggle between knowing when to push on and when to give up. It’s hard to know when it’s the last straw, the last chance or the last attempt. Giving up is perceived as weak, lazy and cowardly. But giving up can also be brave and essential to our happiness. To give up on a bad career, on a relationship that’s going nowhere, or on a path that’s leading us in the wrong direction is admirable. To give up can bring relief, peace and freedom. It can give us back our time, our focus, and our energy. Of course, there are times when we shouldn’t give up. And sometimes we just have to follow our instincts to know what to do. But ultimately, we shouldn’t give up on our own wellbeing. Sometimes that requires some holding on and some letting go. Whichever it is, let it lead you forward.
What would you give to lead a happy and successful life? Maybe we should really be asking ourselves what we should give up. I know what you’re thinking, giving up is the last thing we should be doing, but here are a few suggestions of things we need to purge from our lives in order to keep ourselves motivated and on track:
- Give up the demoralising self-talk – Doubt, insecurity and anxiety are all natural emotions, but we cannot let them pull us down. We will never be free from obstacles, but we can be rid of the ones we create for ourselves. Open up your mind and believe in yourself.
- Give up the excuses – The first step to achieving anything is starting and with that comes trying. There will never be a perfect time and we will never feel fully prepared. We can only start where ever we are and with the means we have available. Stop making excuses for yourself and grow.
- Give up the past – No matter how many mistakes we’ve made or how many heartaches we’ve gone through, our future doesn’t need to follow the same path. We cannot change the past, but we can learn from it. Stop looking behind you and start moving forward.
- Give up the people pleasing – We need to let go of other people’s expectations and wishes. We need to take away the unnecessary pressures and limitations that come with those. The only person who will live with our life choices will be ourselves, so the only expectations and wishes that matter are ours. Please yourself.
