Treating each other with kindness, patience and respect forms a beautiful cycle of love. When we help another person, they may not always have the ability to repay us. But they give us a different kind of gift. When we act with kindness and respect towards another person, people notice and will respect us for it. In our times of trouble, they will be more willing to lend their own hands. When we act with kindness and respect towards another person, we also begin to respect ourselves. Love is how we help others to be better people. And love is how we become better people. Let’s spread the light.
There are two types of criticism: the constructive and the hateful. Both have very different motives: the former aims to push us higher and the latter to pull us down. And I distinctly say ‘push’ and ‘pull’ because those who criticise to pull us down are generally people who are stuck at the bottom themselves; they are provoked by jealousy, ignorance, and inadequacy in their own life, which they need to project onto those who are trying and succeeding. Do not let them triumph by allowing them to pull you down with hateful comments. They do not understand your passion and drive, your happiness and purpose. Do not let them steal those away from you, because you do not deserve it and they do not deserve the satisfaction. Let that type of criticism either fuel your journey to success even further or fly over your head. No matter what people say, keep going.
Being able to be happy for someone else’s success and pleasures in life illuminates our own feelings about success and happiness and also the possibilities of our own success and happiness. We don’t have to always agree with everybody’s choices in life, but if we cannot be happy for somebody else, we are living in the world of negativity and lack. We constantly are comparing our lives to someone else’s and punishing them through our behaviour, because we are insecure about our own level of success and happiness. Perhaps we don’t believe in ourselves, don’t believe that we can get to a similar level of success and happiness, so we try to brush it off. If we cannot be happy for someone else, then we will never be satisfied or happy with our own achievements. We need to understand that success and happiness is different for everyone. Although we might be jealous of someone’s accomplishments, we may have a different yet very equal set of achievements. Similarly, we might find happiness and success in different roads that can never be compared, but are still equally as important. We can be jealous of somebody’s life and admire them at the same time. We can be happy for them without compromising our own happiness. We can still reach higher and higher whilst helping others achieve their dreams too.
