If you look inside, you will find strength, you will find beauty, you will find wisdom. It’s easy to persuade ourselves that we’re not good enough, especially when it feels like everyone else is saying that too. But all the tools we need are right inside us. If you close your eyes and really look deep inside, you’ll find that voice of courage and love and faith. And then you need to hand a megaphone to that voice. Because you don’t deserve anything but words of love and optimism. They’ll be enough people out in the world trying to criticise you and bring you down, but don’t let them drown out your inner voice. You are strong, you are beautiful and you can conquer anything. You can be whoever you want to be.
Our bodies are simply a package. Our humanity is the gift inside. Some bodies may demand attention where others go unnoticed. But with time, they will all wear away. Youth fades, beauty fades, and even health fades. But our humanity doesn’t. Not unless we let it. Our kindness, forgiveness, strength, passion, love – these, and many others, are the gifts that matter. Don’t be careless with them. Nurture them, share them and treasure them.
There is no beauty without some strangeness ~ Edgar Allan Poe
Beauty begins the moment you decide to be yourself ~ Coco Chanel
I always find beauty in things that are odd and imperfect – they are much more interesting ~ Mark Jacobs
Beauty is not in a face. Beauty is a light in the heart ~ Kahlil Gibran

You’ll never lose by digging deep, staying true, not giving up, building character in the crucible of challenge, breathing in, hanging on, and becoming more weighty below the surface than you are impressive above it. ~ Louie Giglio

In the depth of winter, I have learned that within me there lay an invincible summer ~ Albert Camus
I’ve been obsessed with A Great Big World’s album When the Morning Comes, so it’s hard to pick just one song off the album. But the song that drew me to the album in the first place was ‘Won’t stop running’. No matter how much darkness we have to endure, no matter how many times we fall, no matter how tightly our hands are tied, keep going. There’s something better waiting right around the corner.
Guy Winch’s ‘Why we all need to practice emotional first aid’ is most likely my favourite Ted Talk I’ve ever watched. Guy asks, why we treat physical health and pain differently to emotional health and pain? We need to start taking care of ourselves on the inside as much as on the outside. Loneliness, fear of failure, and loss, for example, are emotions we need to start acknowledging, tuning into, and doing something about. Let’s stop brushing our emotions off like they don’t or shouldn’t mean anything.
We do not need magic to transform our world. We carry all of the power we need inside ourselves already.
– J K Rowling
Quote of the day.
Our biggest blessing is that we are the ones in control of our fate. We make the choices. Our biggest misfortune is that we are the ones in control of our fate. We cannot wait around for great things to happen. We should not wait around for permission to make great things happen. We should not shy away from making great things happen because other things we tried never materialised. Only we can make great things happen. We have to choose to make great things happen and to let great things happen. Because greatness lies within us, not outside in the world. We have to be persistent, forgiving, loyal, flexible, and visionary. We are in control of who we are and what we do. And that’s how we’ll make it count, the only way how we’ll make things happen.
We create our own world. Our world is a representation of our experiences, encounters, perceptions, thoughts and feelings. We create our perspectives of good and bad. And with that, we create our senses of happiness and satisfaction and despair and sadness. We attach an emotion to an experience. But happiness shouldn’t be something we only find in particular experiences, because the world is sometimes uncontrollable and unfair. Happiness is something we create within – an emotion we foster due to and in spite of our experiences. We shouldn’t rely on the external world to create our happiness. It’s more about our perspective. We create happiness on the inside. Let the happiness shine from within and create a new world.
We all put on fronts at one time or another. We try to hide how we’re truly feeling from others and sometimes ourselves. Sometimes the strongest are the most sensitive. Sometimes the one surrounded by people is the loneliest. Sometimes the most cheerful are not the happiest. Sometimes the one who seems the most confident has insecurities. We all struggle with certain issues, and it’s not always apparent on the outside. Let’s be mindful of the difference between our perceptions and reality. Treat everyone with kindness, including yourself, because we all go through rough times, even if it doesn’t show. And don’t be afraid to admit how you’re feeling. It’s okay to be vulnerable. And hopefully that will set you free.
Times can be tough. Everyone experiences them in one form or another, and not only once. Even if we think others might have it easier, we’re all going through our own battles. It’s not our circumstances that make the difference, it’s who we are on the inside that counts. It’s about believing in yourself. It’s about unleashing that inner fire and burning those negative thoughts. It’s about believing in happier times. It’s about fighting for what you deserve and what you want out of life. It’s about becoming stronger and better. Circumstances might shape who we are, but we decide who that is. You decide what you’re made of.
