Sticks and stones may break your bones, but don’t let it break you. Sometimes it feels like life is hitting us constantly, not even giving us time to get back up before hitting us down again. But there is always a light at the end of the tunnel. There is always a way out. There is always another path. Keep your eyes open or maybe take a look at things from a different perspective. Most of all, keep going, and you’ll get to wherever you want to be.
If you could change one thing in the world, what would it be? I would change its heart. And we can. Keep an open mind. Give people benefit of the doubt. Be kind to people without expecting anything in return. Stand up for people without a voice. Listen to people who need it. Speak to people who are lonely. Love more. Hate less. That’s how we can save the world from being swallowed up in darkness.
Joy and sorrow are the light and shade of life; without light and shade no picture is clear ~ Hazrat Inayat Khan
Quote of the day.
Stay true to yourself. Live how you want to, love who you want to, be who you want to. Extend the same right to others to be true to themselves. We don’t all agree and we’re not all the same, but that’s not something to be afraid of or something we should try to control. It’s something we should embrace, nurture and celebrate. Being different isn’t a curse, it’s a gift. We all emit our own light from our own source. We can all shine together – there’s no need to put someone else out. The more of us who shine, the brighter the world is.
It may not seem like it at the time, but life will work itself out for the best in the end. Rain will make the flowers grow. Darkness will illuminate the light. Villains will create heroes. Difficult roads will lead to beautiful destinations. Don’t worry. Hard times will pass, but they’ll make you stronger. Better times will follow in their wake. Keep holding on.
The highs and the lows. The light and the darkness. The blessings and the lessons. The climbing and the falling. The setbacks and the comebacks. The open plains and the dead ends. Experience it all. You’ll be stronger because of it. You’ll be happier because of it. You’ll be alive because of it.
Sometimes the brightest stars are hidden behind the clouds. It’s become a pattern for us to compare ourselves to others. It’s become a pattern to focus heavily on our inabilities or failures. And it’s become a pattern to downplay our capabilities or achievements. We keep ourselves from shining brightly because we don’t think, we don’t believe, we’re good enough. But we are. We need to know that. We need to start sharing everything we have to offer. We need to be proud of ourselves. We need to have faith in ourselves, in the weird and wonderful ways that make us who we are. We need to start spreading our light to those who sit in the darkness. Don’t shut it out. Break those patterns and break the clouds.
When it is light, our world thrives. When it is dark, our world hides. Sometimes our light – our hope, positivity and happiness – is swallowed up by the darkness. We become paralysed by fear, sadness and pessimism in the darkness. But why, when a new dawn breaks out of the darkness each day, do we not believe that a new dawn will break for each of us too? Look beyond the darkness. Have faith in the light. It will pierce the darkness – but you’ve got to keep your eyes open.
Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented and fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? We are all meant to shine.
We’re taught to sabotage ourselves repeatedly through a particular mindset. We constantly focus on the flaws of our body and our intellect and everything in between. We constantly tell ourselves that we’re not enough. We constantly brush off our talents and achievements. Why? We’ve been listening to that for too long. We’ve forgotten the power hidden within. We’ve forgotten that we are all unique and wonderful, that we all have more to offer than we thought possible, and that we’re allowed to let our light shine. Let’s stop hiding ourselves away. We deserve more than darkness. The world depends on us to keep lighting it up. Don’t leave it in darkness. Don’t leave yourself in darkness.
