The energy we exhale into the world will quickly become the air we breathe. If we always focus on what’s wrong in our lives, on what’s wrong in others, on what’s wrong with the world, life will always seem drained of good and hope, because it’s all we’ll ever notice. But if we believe in ourselves and root for others, if we love ourselves and treat others well, the world will look abundant and generous. Be mindful of the energies you send out into the world, because the one most likely to suffer from it is yourself. Look at life with positivity, and you life will instantly be transformed.

If you could change one thing in the world, what would it be? I would change its heart. And we can. Keep an open mind. Give people benefit of the doubt. Be kind to people without expecting anything in return. Stand up for people without a voice. Listen to people who need it. Speak to people who are lonely. Love more. Hate less. That’s how we can save the world from being swallowed up in darkness.
The nice-to-haves but not need-to-haves: approval, the next big thing, a particular type of education, endless time, outcomes that exceed expectations, a title. You can do anything you put your mind to, no matter who you are or what you have. Only you are in control of your success, your happiness, your life. Don’t put it in the hands of others. Just do you.
We all hold power. Power in our mind, power in our words, power in our actions, power in our emotions. We may not always feel it, but it’s always there. Don’t hand it over to someone else. Don’t let anyone convince you otherwise. You have the power to do an immense amount of good in your own life and in the world. You can do what you want, say what you want, be what you want. You’re stronger than you know. Use it wisely.
Truth is, no matter what we do, say, think, believe, we cannot please everyone. There will always be someone who won’t like it and won’t be afraid to tell you so. We cannot meet everyone’s expectations. So why don’t we just focus on pleasing the one person who will have to live with you: yourself. You have to live with your actions, your choices, your perspective, so why are we trying so hard to please others when we can so easily please ourselves. Do what makes you happy, what makes you grow, what makes you live. Set your own standards, create your own rules and live your own life. It’s your life, not theirs.
Stop over-analysing. It probably isn’t as bad as you think, or as stupid as you think, or as embarrassing as you think. We blow up everything in our minds, and usually for the worst. Stop worrying. Stop creating problems where there are none. Just keep laughing, keep going, and keep being you. Keep living – even through those awkward moments.
Our bodies are simply a package. Our humanity is the gift inside. Some bodies may demand attention where others go unnoticed. But with time, they will all wear away. Youth fades, beauty fades, and even health fades. But our humanity doesn’t. Not unless we let it. Our kindness, forgiveness, strength, passion, love – these, and many others, are the gifts that matter. Don’t be careless with them. Nurture them, share them and treasure them.
