Keep hustling. Keep going. Don’t let other people’s opinions and expectations stop you. Don’t let the fear of failure or past mistakes stop you. Take life as it comes and adjust your sails to continue in the direction you want to go. It’s never going to be an easy journey, but it will be worth it if you keep endeavouring to do what you love.
You matter. Your mind matters. Your voice matters. Your body matters. Your actions matter. Your opinion matters. Your dreams matter. Your hopes matter. Your perspective matters. Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise. And especially don’t tell yourself otherwise. You are good enough. You are strong. And you are important. Don’t forget it. Don’t hide away. You matter more than you know.
Some people will not say thank you, say well done or say congratulations. Some people will not acknowledge how hard we try, how much time we put in or how much we sacrifice. Some people will not accept us for who we are and will pick at our imperfections. Some people suck. But we don’t need them. We shouldn’t rely on others to validate what we do or who we are. We need to be that source of inspiration, encouragement and love for ourselves. We know who we are and decide what we do, and we don’t need anyone else to tell us that we’re beautiful, hardworking and loved. Don’t let anyone make you doubt yourself. Love yourself and believe in yourself.
It’s easy to spout an opinion. It’s easy to pass judgement. It’s easy to talk about how life should be. But it really means nothing without action. Sure, we need an idea and a vision, but that’s all they’ll ever be if we don’t put them into action ourselves. We need to stop telling and start doing. We need to stop expecting it all from others and start leading by example. We inspire, motivate and nurture others through practicing what we preach not just preaching what we should practice. Every movement starts with someone putting it into motion. The action is the match that ignites the flame.
The greatest gift we can give ourselves is having enough confidence in ourselves: in our voice, in our opinions, in our ideas, and in our capabilities. The truth is, our voice counts, even if it doesn’t ring the loudest. Our opinions matter, because they add colour to a black and white picture. Our ideas make a mark on the world, when we have courage to pursue them. Our capabilities are a special combination that cannot be found anywhere else. Our lack of confidence is unfounded. We’re all amazing in our own way. Let’s believe in ourselves! And let the magic unfold.
How do we measure who we are? Too often than not, we focus too heavily on what we’re not and not enough on what we are. Some of us feel it through the weight of other people’s opinions. Some of us feel it through the burden of our own opinions. We often underestimate our talents and exaggerate our flaws. Why are we so hung up on the negatives? Shift the perspective a little. Stop belittling yourself. You have so much to offer. And so much of you is beautiful, even the imperfect, damaged parts. Be proud of who you are. Appreciate it’s value. And flaunt it.
Too many people overvalue what they are not and undervalue what they are.
