How are you spending your time?

Question of the week: How are you spending your time?

It’s a question I’ve been asking myself a lot lately. We all have the same amount of time in a day, yet we spend it so differently.

Some of us go after our goals with everything we have but don’t stop to enjoy it, some of us dream bigger than our imagination but hardly put anything into action, and some of us go along with the path set out for us even if it’s not what we want. And there’s every other combination in between.

We all have less and less time as we get older. Are you wasting it? We need to be more conscious of the excuses we’re using and be more honest about what is holding us back. Only then can we move onto what makes us happier and keeps us fulfilled. We might not spend every day to its highest potential, but we can always do better, before it runs out.

What does Feminism mean to me?

To me, feminism is about equality. It’s about a seat at the table, a voice, recognition. It’s about inclusion. It’s about transcending differences. To me, being a feminist means supporting each other – man or woman – not tearing them down. Being a feminist is about making room for everyone, not about being on top. Being a feminist shouldn’t be an embarrassment. It shouldn’t be an accusation. It shouldn’t only be for women. To me, the foundations of feminism are very real; women are treated as lesser to men in many ways all around the world, sometimes in places that feel so far removed from us, and sometimes right under our noses. To me, feminism is something we should all strive for – whether man or woman. How wouldn’t we all benefit from equality, opportunity and love? Let’s keep going until we don’t need to talk about it anymore. I know I will. #HappyInternationalWomensDay

Believe in yourself and the world

With a touch of faith, anything becomes possible. Seems too simple to be true. But believing in ourselves, believing in the good of others, believing that things will work out, will do wondrous things to our lives. Faith sparks positivity, determination, problem-solving, which in turn invites happiness and success into our lives. Faith is in endless supply inside us. If you believe you can do anything, you will.

The world is your oyster

The world is your oyster. You have to swim around in the darkness before you stumble upon it. You have to believe in your power to break it open. You have to have faith that you’ll find something inside. But the world is yours – there’s so much possibility, opportunity, potential, choice. Do whatever it takes to create a life you want. Don’t let anything hold you back, especially yourself.

Dreaming of a life like yours

There’s someone out in the world who dreams of a life like yours, a job like yours, a relationship like yours, a place to live like yours. There’s someone out in the world who dreams of less than what you have, to be happy and comfortable. Look around. Do you appreciate the things you have, the connections you have and the opportunities you have? Do you make the most of them? Or do you take them for granted or let them slip by? Do you always focus on the next big thing or what you don’t have? There’s so much we need to be more grateful for. Because someone out there is fighting for those things.

Take control of your life

Take control of the hand you are dealt. Take responsibility for the life at your feet. Take the opportunities right in front of you. Life isn’t perfect, but that doesn’t mean it won’t be good. A door closes so another one can open. If we take control of our lives, take responsibility and take opportunity, our life has a kaleidoscope full of possibilities instead of the inevitability you settle for. Don’t give up on it. Take it. The only one who can change your life is you.
