If we plant a handful of seeds into the ground, we cannot predict how tall and strong they’ll grow. Some might grow more than others. But if we nurture them with love and care, we may find different results. More will grow than not. It’s the same with us. We might be planted in this world in particular conditions. But that doesn’t define who we are or how successful we are. We define that. If we’re willing to put the time in, if we’re willing to take care of ourselves, and most importantly, if we’re willing to believe in ourselves, we’ll exceed what we might have once been deemed capable of. We’re more than our circumstances. We’re our passion, our persistence and our positivity. If we stick it out in the darkness, we’ll quickly find the light.
There’s no way to reach the top of a mountain other than to climb it. There’s no way to build a pyramid other than to lay the foundation. There’s no way to glide across the sky other than to use your wings and fly up there. To gain altitude, we have to put in the work – to keep going despite the rocky terrain, the beating sun, or the harsh wind. It will be worth it. The view is worth persisting. The higher you get, the better the view.
A lot can happen in a lifetime. Sometimes life softens us and other times it hardens us. Sometimes life inspires us and other times it disheartens us. Sometimes life favours us and other times it breaks us. Life is a challenge for all of us. But don’t let it get the best of you. Even in the coldest of winters, stay warm. Don’t let life snatch away your trust, love, persistence, faith, courage, instinct, forgiveness, acceptance, strength, gratitude, honesty, positivity. Stay warm on the inside no matter how brutal it gets on the outside. If we do, the ice will eventually thaw.
Sometimes, we have to be honest, direct and disciplined, to kick ourselves into gear. Sometimes, we have to hustle. Because no one can hand us our dreams, our time, or our successes. Because no one can tell us who we are, how to think or what to do. Because no one can feed us passion, persistence or positivity. That all brews within. It’s up to us. We’re all beautiful and capable, and very much so. And it’s up to us to unleash that. Don’t let yourself fall behind. Don’t let yourself miss a window of opportunity. Don’t leave yourself with second best. Things may come to those who wait, but only the things left by those who hustle.
Our biggest blessing is that we are the ones in control of our fate. We make the choices. Our biggest misfortune is that we are the ones in control of our fate. We cannot wait around for great things to happen. We should not wait around for permission to make great things happen. We should not shy away from making great things happen because other things we tried never materialised. Only we can make great things happen. We have to choose to make great things happen and to let great things happen. Because greatness lies within us, not outside in the world. We have to be persistent, forgiving, loyal, flexible, and visionary. We are in control of who we are and what we do. And that’s how we’ll make it count, the only way how we’ll make things happen.
To reach the top of the mountain, we have to walk through some gruelling terrain. Sometimes that means making difficult choices. Sometimes that means enduring monotony and exhaustion. Sometimes that means falling down. Because sometimes we have to do what we have to do in order to be in the place we want to be. So take it in. Look around. Test, learn, and adapt. Keep going, because the view at the top is worth it.
Our time is so precious. Although we make mistakes, there are ways we waste our time that we could be more conscious of:
- We do not persist – Nothing worth having will come easily, because there’s a lot trying to trip us up: procrastination, fears, anxieties. But we all have purpose. We all have dreams. And we should pursue them, no matter what. Don’t waste the opportunity to live the life you want to.
- We try to mould ourselves – Instead of embracing all parts of ourselves, we try to hide parts away, place ourselves into categories, and fit into what others want or like. But if that means we have to deny who we are, can we really ever be happy? Don’t waste time trying to be someone you’re not or living someone else’s life.
- We are afraid of change – There isn’t anything more certain than change. And change can be scary. But change means adapting, evolving, growing. It’s what keeps life interesting and what keeps us moving forward. Nobody wants to be stuck in the same place forever. Don’t be afraid of change. Invite it into your life.
What else do you think we waste our time on?
