Be grateful and be rich

We’ve all won the lottery, even if we don’t have the check to prove it. There are people who are fighting for freedoms, starving for food, searching for steady jobs, shrinking in fear from hate, shivering in the cold. We take our education and our jobs for granted, the food in our mouths and the roofs over our heads for granted, the love that surrounds us for granted. Take a look around at how much there is to be grateful for and how much the world has offered us. Appreciate those gifts and reap as much as you can from them, instead of wasting them and wishing for something else. We don’t need lots of money to be rich.

Giving

Giving doesn’t demand great sacrifice, great spending, or great selflessness. We can give thanks or praise, we can lend a hand or an ear, and we can take others into account when we make speak or act. We can put ourselves in others shoes, we can give another the benefit of the doubt, we can respect each other, we can share knowledge and wisdom. Don’t underestimate your power to give to others. And don’t underestimate the power giving holds to make the world a better place.

Let go of the people who don’t deserve us

steve maraboli relationship quote

Relationships and friendships aren’t always ships that sail smoothly. Sometimes we’re taken for granted. Sometimes we’re treated poorly. Sometimes we’re barred from being ourselves. Sometimes people pour their negativity onto us. Done consistently, it can take a toll on us. It drains our happiness, shreds our confidence and strips away our positivity and faith in the world. Sometimes we have to let those people go. Because we deserve better. We deserve people who give as much as they take. We deserve people who appreciate us in both their good and bad times and who are there for us in our good and bad times. Sometimes we have to let people go in order to welcome others.

Three states of mind that make life better

happiness quote

Positivity isn’t about ignoring the worse parts of life nor is it about suppressing our negative emotions. Because we cannot avoid them. It’s rather about refusing to let those moments drain the colour out of life. Let’s have faith that things will turn out alright.

Gratitude might sometimes be in short supply. It’s natural to look at what we don’t have, reminisce about how things were or wonder about how things could be. But there’s a lot to be grateful for right on our doorstep. Let’s not take those for granted.

Self-confidence is something we’re always working on. Think about how many different choices we might make if we actually believed in ourselves, our worth and our beauty. Think about what we would attempt if we knew we wouldn’t fail. Let’s live confidently and be richer for it.

Thought of the Day: Riches

richestman2

The richest person is not the one who has the most. But the one who needs the least. The one who can turn less into more. The one who realises that even when we have more, we’ll still want more. We can become so fixated on our addictions to having more that we never truly appreciate what we have. But riches don’t always translate to materiality. We can be rich in love, in knowledge, in strength. And that only comes through living, not accumulating. We don’t need that much. In the end, it will only weigh us down.
