Life’s plan

Don’t worry if you don’t have it all figured out. Life rarely follows the plans we make anyway. So instead, find greatness in the unexpected, find beauty in the journey, and find strength in the challenges. Live in the moment and live for the moment. The trek up the mountainside only brightens the view at the top of the mountain.

Stuff happens, but it will be ok

When your ride gets thrown off track, it can be overwhelming. Perhaps something has turned your life upside down. Perhaps things have been piling up and weighing you down. Either way, it can feel like there’s no way out. We’ve got to strip it back down to basics. First of all, remind yourself that everything will be ok. Then, remember everything you’ve still got. Next, slowly pull yourself out of the wreckage. Finally, repeat all the above until you’re back on track. The journey might not be the same, but it will still be the ride of your life.

Happiness during the pursuit of happiness

Happiness takes work. We find it in accomplishments, in relationships, in dreams. And they take work. But we have to remember to sometimes stop, wherever we are, and take in that moment to be happy. There’s so much to be happy about right in front of us too, whether we’re at the bottom of the mountain, in the middle of a tightrope, or at the finish line. Don’t forget to be happy during your pursuit to happiness too. Otherwise, can we ever be happy at all?

Enduring hardships

Every life has its hardships, no matter we do. We can try to play it safe, we can take the same road as many before us, we can try to please our loved ones, but these lives have their hardships too. We all get stressed, angry, lonely, lost, sad. So why wouldn’t we just do what we love? What makes the hard times bearable is having purpose. And purpose grows from doing what makes us happy and aspiring to accomplish something that will bring us great joy. Everything in between is worth it, the good and the bad. Go out there and find your purpose. Don’t be afraid of it and don’t try to borrow someone else’s. He who has a why to live for can bear almost any how.

Life will work out

It may not seem like it at the time, but life will work itself out for the best in the end. Rain will make the flowers grow. Darkness will illuminate the light. Villains will create heroes. Difficult roads will lead to beautiful destinations. Don’t worry. Hard times will pass, but they’ll make you stronger. Better times will follow in their wake. Keep holding on.

Thought of the day: Refocus

Over time, our perspectives can slowly become clouded, our direction can become aimless, and our vision can crumble. Sometimes we don’t notice. Sometimes we do but we keep doing more of the same anyway. But every now and then, we need to take a moment to refocus. Those moments can put us back on track or reveal an entirely new road. Those moments can reenergise us by uncovering what matters most to us. Those moments help us figure out what’s working and isn’t. Don’t underestimate those moments. Stop and refocus the lens. You’ll notice much better quality if you do.

The first step

The first step is always the hardest step. Our passion and energy become clouded with anticipation and doubt. What if we don’t make it? And if we do, will it be worth it? The truth is, we won’t know until we take that first step and keep going. That’s the most exciting part – we don’t know what will happen. And that’s the reason we should take the first step. Because no matter what happens, no matter how unpaved the way is or treacherous the road is, everything will work out. It will be worth it if we try. It will be worth it in ways we can’t possibly imagine as we contemplate taking the first step. As you start to walk out on the way, the way appears.

Being proud of yourself

As the year draws to a close, we often take a look at the map of the journey we’ve plotted this year. There might be a few patches of uphill struggle. There might be a few circles, and even a few dead ends. Or maybe a lot. Nonetheless, we should be proud of ourselves and how far we’ve come. Because no matter where we are, our map shows that we tried, we conquered, we learnt something. We remained strong and determined. And sometimes we fell apart and it was ok. We should be proud of what we’ve achieved, no matter how small or how trivial, they seem, even if it’s just bring proud that we didn’t give up on ourselves. Because our achievements have made us into who we are today and who we can be tomorrow. Celebrate those moments and use them as your fuel to make yourself proud next year.

Blank spaces

dwell-in-possibility-739x1024

We all have an endless supply of blank spaces to fill. Spaces to shape who we are. Spaces to discover and explore. Spaces to learn and think. Spaces to try and fall and try again. Spaces to imagine and build. We all have endless opportunities, possibilities, and fates. We’re not stuck on one road or labelled as one person. We can be whoever we want to be, do whatever we want to do, and more. Let’s not limit ourselves. Let’s let go. Let’s make the most of it. Dwell in possibility and fill those blank spaces.
