It’s ok to admit you’re not ok

It’s common for us to pretend we live in a perfect, happy life and we have the strength to fight all its battles alone. Sometimes we are happy. Sometimes we are strong. But it’s also OK to admit that we aren’t always happy and we aren’t always strong. Don’t harbour your sadness or anxiety inside. Don’t ignore it. To be free of it, we have to find our own way to release it. And that only begins by acknowledging it and by expressing it in one way or another. Be honest with yourself. Share your feelings with someone who you feel comfortable with and who you can trust. Express those emotions. It can only make you happier and stronger in the end.

Thought of the day: Inner beauty

Our bodies are simply a package. Our humanity is the gift inside. Some bodies may demand attention where others go unnoticed. But with time, they will all wear away. Youth fades, beauty fades, and even health fades. But our humanity doesn’t. Not unless we let it. Our kindness, forgiveness, strength, passion, love – these, and many others, are the gifts that matter. Don’t be careless with them. Nurture them, share them and treasure them.

Break the pattern

Sometimes the brightest stars are hidden behind the clouds. It’s become a pattern for us to compare ourselves to others. It’s become a pattern to focus heavily on our inabilities or failures. And it’s become a pattern to downplay our capabilities or achievements. We keep ourselves from shining brightly because we don’t think, we don’t believe, we’re good enough. But we are. We need to know that. We need to start sharing everything we have to offer. We need to be proud of ourselves. We need to have faith in ourselves, in the weird and wonderful ways that make us who we are. We need to start spreading our light to those who sit in the darkness. Don’t shut it out. Break those patterns and break the clouds.

Don’t leave yourself in darkness

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented and fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? We are all meant to shine.
We’re taught to sabotage ourselves repeatedly through a particular mindset. We constantly focus on the flaws of our body and our intellect and everything in between. We constantly tell ourselves that we’re not enough. We constantly brush off our talents and achievements. Why? We’ve been listening to that for too long. We’ve forgotten the power hidden within. We’ve forgotten that we are all unique and wonderful, that we all have more to offer than we thought possible, and that we’re allowed to let our light shine. Let’s stop hiding ourselves away. We deserve more than darkness. The world depends on us to keep lighting it up. Don’t leave it in darkness. Don’t leave yourself in darkness.

Help the world be a better place

Steve Maraboli kindness quote

We can all help the world be a better place. By extending a hand. By standing up for the victim. By empowering the voiceless. By comforting the lonely. By listening to the other side of the argument. By encouraging the next generation. By caring for the earth. By sharing an idea. By radiating positivity. And so on. It doesn’t all come to money or time or access. We can make the world a better place through our perspective, our energy and a string of good deeds. We all have a part to play. And it can make all the difference. Which one is yours?
