People change

people change

People change. Time ticks on and life goes on, so people change. Sometimes they’re tested to new extremes. Sometimes old wounds are ripped open. And we all respond differently. People break, people fight, people forget, people grow. And we cannot expect others to respond the same way we would. We cannot tell others how to feel. Sometimes all we can do is listen and comfort. Other times all we can do is accept and move on. People change. We change. Try to make the best of it.

Strengths are realised through weakness

strength doesn't come

Only when our weaknesses are exposed do we stumble upon our strength. We shouldn’t be afraid to acknowledge our weaknesses. We all have gaps in our knowledge. But asking questions can only bring us closer to the answer. We all have something we lack in our capabilities. But testing, failing and learning can only bring us closer to our desired results. We all have insecurities. But accepting them as a part of who we are can only enhance our natural beauty. Strength is realised when we admit our weaknesses. Weakness and strength walk hand in hand. There’s no need to tear them apart.

Doing what you have to do

To reach the top of the mountain, we have to walk through some gruelling terrain. Sometimes that means making difficult choices. Sometimes that means enduring monotony and exhaustion. Sometimes that means falling down. Because sometimes we have to do what we have to do in order to be in the place we want to be. So take it in. Look around. Test, learn, and adapt. Keep going, because the view at the top is worth it.

Three things we shouldn’t let stop us

stop-being-affraid-quote

There are so many obstacles we let determine our path. But many of them are much more obstacles of our own perception than obstacles of reality. There are some that we shouldn’t always view so pessimistically, because rather than stopping us, they can actually push and encourage us forward:

  1. Scars – When our trust is broken, when our confidence is shattered, when our love is fractured, scars settle on our skin to remind us of our heartbreak, sadness and anxiety. But we shouldn’t let the past pollute what is to come. And we shouldn’t let the past force us into hiding. Look at your scars as a guide and keep going.
  2. Failure – It’s pretty much human nature to be afraid of making mistakes. We have a warped sense that they mean we’re not good enough. And when we’re not good at something, we tend to steer clear of it, because we don’t want to look bad. But our failures are the pieces to our success puzzle. Look at your failure as a test and persevere.
  3. Criticism – Although there are people who intentionally try to bring us down, there are also people who try to help us grow and better ourselves and our actions. We shouldn’t be too sensitive to constructive criticism, because it’s such a useful tool to gain insight and perspective we cannot give ourselves. Look at another’s criticism as a blessing and carry on.
