Sometimes we get that high from life, that burst of energy, that swing in our step. We want to conquer everything on our list of goals and visions. But after a while, we lose that high, that burst, that swing, because we’re so overwhelmed, disorientated and exhausted by our plans. We need to realise that we sometimes have to start from the bottom of the staircase and sometimes we can only see the first few steps. Don’t try and create a whole new lifestyle with the snap of a finger. To keep that high, that burst, that swing, we have to pace ourselves and realise that we will need to work on ourselves and our craft. You’ll go much further if you take your time.
Over time, our perspectives can slowly become clouded, our direction can become aimless, and our vision can crumble. Sometimes we don’t notice. Sometimes we do but we keep doing more of the same anyway. But every now and then, we need to take a moment to refocus. Those moments can put us back on track or reveal an entirely new road. Those moments can reenergise us by uncovering what matters most to us. Those moments help us figure out what’s working and isn’t. Don’t underestimate those moments. Stop and refocus the lens. You’ll notice much better quality if you do.
It’s easy to spout an opinion. It’s easy to pass judgement. It’s easy to talk about how life should be. But it really means nothing without action. Sure, we need an idea and a vision, but that’s all they’ll ever be if we don’t put them into action ourselves. We need to stop telling and start doing. We need to stop expecting it all from others and start leading by example. We inspire, motivate and nurture others through practicing what we preach not just preaching what we should practice. Every movement starts with someone putting it into motion. The action is the match that ignites the flame.
Believe in yourself. Sometimes it’s the hardest part. But you shouldn’t need someone to convince you. Be your most devoted admirer. Be your most enthusiastic cheerleader. Be your own hero. Because you deserve all the joy and love and success you wish for. And much of what stands in your way is yourself. We doubt our abilities and our visions. But you can do anything. We all can. Know that there is something inside you that is greater than any obstacle. Come out from the shadows your hiding in. And let yourself shine.
Our biggest blessing is that we are the ones in control of our fate. We make the choices. Our biggest misfortune is that we are the ones in control of our fate. We cannot wait around for great things to happen. We should not wait around for permission to make great things happen. We should not shy away from making great things happen because other things we tried never materialised. Only we can make great things happen. We have to choose to make great things happen and to let great things happen. Because greatness lies within us, not outside in the world. We have to be persistent, forgiving, loyal, flexible, and visionary. We are in control of who we are and what we do. And that’s how we’ll make it count, the only way how we’ll make things happen.
Success isn’t a result of spontaneous combustion. You must set yourself on fire. Success cannot sustain itself on luck or circumstance or chance. Success is planted, nurtured and blossomed by each of us. We need to have a firm faith in our vision. We need to have a fierce determination. We need to have enough courage to take uncertain risks. We need to change our perspectives, the ways we think, the energies we emit. Sometimes we have to be willing to lose in order to win. And the best part? It comes down to us. Let’s not make excuses, let’s make things happen.
Our expectations of our future can easily evaporate away with the changing tides. It can be a daunting idea. But it’s also very liberating. Just think, at any moment, we can decide that this is not the way we want the story to end. We are in control of our future and we can change our minds as many times as we want. So whether we want to chase our vision of the future or completely recreate it, we can. When we look back on our life, we’ll see that those cliffhangers, plot twists and turning points are what made our story worth it. So take hold of the pen and get writing.
