It’s time to take control of your life. Time won’t stop ticking on. People won’t stop opening their mouths. The world won’t stop to hand everything to you. We have to dream and pursue and work and keep going. There’s no one else who can live your life for you, whether you think they do or think they can. You’re in the driver’s seat. It’s time to put your hands on the wheel.
The most satisfying things, the most treasured things, the most earned things in life are those we worked for, sometimes sacrificed for, those we fought for. There’s no value in something that was handed to us. There’s no glory in something we took a shortcut to. The best things in life make you sweaty, with exhilaration, hard work, passion, and perseverance. Don’t be afraid to get your hands dirty. It will be worth it.
We either make ourselves miserable or we make ourselves strong. The amount of work is the same. ~ Carlos Castenada
Quote of the day.
Happiness takes work. We find it in accomplishments, in relationships, in dreams. And they take work. But we have to remember to sometimes stop, wherever we are, and take in that moment to be happy. There’s so much to be happy about right in front of us too, whether we’re at the bottom of the mountain, in the middle of a tightrope, or at the finish line. Don’t forget to be happy during your pursuit to happiness too. Otherwise, can we ever be happy at all?
Over time, our perspectives can slowly become clouded, our direction can become aimless, and our vision can crumble. Sometimes we don’t notice. Sometimes we do but we keep doing more of the same anyway. But every now and then, we need to take a moment to refocus. Those moments can put us back on track or reveal an entirely new road. Those moments can reenergise us by uncovering what matters most to us. Those moments help us figure out what’s working and isn’t. Don’t underestimate those moments. Stop and refocus the lens. You’ll notice much better quality if you do.
Learn from the people smarter than you, instead of comparing yourself to them. Practice with the people stronger than you, instead of competing against them. Work with the people who inspire you, instead of trying to copy them. Keep your eyes open, keep your mind sharp, but keep your heart true. Nobody can be a better you than you.
There’s no way to reach the top of a mountain other than to climb it. There’s no way to build a pyramid other than to lay the foundation. There’s no way to glide across the sky other than to use your wings and fly up there. To gain altitude, we have to put in the work – to keep going despite the rocky terrain, the beating sun, or the harsh wind. It will be worth it. The view is worth persisting. The higher you get, the better the view.
